Breaded Chicken and Waffle Pizza

My inaugural pizza is inspired by a show on the Food Network, which featured a Chicago establishment called Dimo's Pizza. They have a number of unique pizzas, one of them being the chicken and waffle pizza.  So I decided to create my own version.

Ingredients
  • One Tesco pizza crust
  • Two frozen breaded chicken breasts
  • Four waffles
  • Two tablespoons of maple syrup
  • Two handfuls of cheese

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees, or gas mark 6.
  2. Defrost the chicken breasts in the microwave for two minutes.
  3. Cut the waffles into approximately one-inch squares and place them throughout the pizza base.
  4. Dice the chicken and use it to fill the gaps between the pieces of waffle.
  5. Spread the maple syrup over the pizza, followed by the cheese.
  6. Bake at 200 degrees, or gas mark 6, for 20-25 minutes.

The Verdict

I don't think I had enough maple syrup for the waffles that I had. There were a number of sweet bits in there, but I think doubling the amount of syrup would have added the extra kick.

I also hardly noticed the chicken, because it was dwarfed by the waffle.  Next time, I'd probably double the chicken.

There is potential in this pizza. I will try adjusting the chicken-to-waffle ratio a little bit next time I try this and see what improvement it makes.
